Savoring the goodness of God

The goodness of God is both intangible and tangible, and He intends for us to enjoy all of it. The intangible goodness in Christ and the tangible goodness in this life are ours to enjoy. Grace has freely given us this goodness, and through faith, we take hold of it. It becomes ours because we use faith in Christ to make it so.

Romans 1:16-17 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” The Good News tells us how God makes us right in His sight, accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life”

Ephesians 2:8 also reminds us, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.”

The tangible goodness of God, which abounds on earth, can be received through faith in our ability to work wisely and gain favor with man. This goodness is ours to enjoy. It will naturally gravitate towards us as we release our faith and labor with our ideas, time, services, skills, and goods.

Ephesians 4:28 instructs, “Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need” (NKJV).

How to Savor the Goodness of God

Acknowledge Every Goodness of God in You in Christ

Philemon 1:6 states, “That the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus” (NKJV).

The Amplified Version elaborates, “[And I pray] that the participation in and sharing of your faith may produce and promote full recognition and appreciation and understanding and precise knowledge of every good [thing] that is ours in [our identification with] Christ Jesus [and unto His glory].”

The word “acknowledgment” here implies having an accurate, exact, and precise knowledge of the goodness of God in you.

James 1:17-18 further explains, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.”

In Christ, we received the good and perfect gift of eternal life. Understanding this gift is the beginning of savoring the goodness of God on earth. While some receive a life comparable to human life, which can be lost at any time, we have received the immortal life of God.

Savor His Goodness Prophetically

What does Scripture say about His goodness?

Psalm 31:19-21 declares, “Your goodness is so great! You have stored up great blessings for those who honor you. You have done so much for those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world. You hide them in the shelter of your presence, safe from those who conspire against them. You shelter them in your presence, far from accusing tongues. Praise the LORD, for he has shown me his unfailing love. He kept me safe when my city was under attack” (NLT).

When did God store up His goodness for those who trust in Him?

At creation.

Psalm 24:1-2 says, “The earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the waters.”

In Paul’s letter to the church, he referenced Psalm 24 when discussing the freedom to buy and eat from the general market.

1 Corinthians 10:25-26 states, “Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience’ sake; for the whole earth is the Lord’s and everything that is in it” (AMP).

Be prophetic. Speak concerning what is on earth and declare the supply of God’s goodness by His mercy and favor. Speak with the knowledge and authority of the name of Jesus. Call the goodness of God into your hands. As you labor with your hands, also open yourself to the favor of God that prompts men to favor you and your work.

I call you blessed.
