You are designed to walk wisely. Christ has been made unto you wisdom, meaning that the wisdom of God dwells within you.
1 Corinthians 1:24
But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.
1 Corinthians 1:30But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God–and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.
This is the foundation of walking wisely: knowing that you are the dwelling place of the wisdom of God. To walk in wisdom, you must allow the superior wisdom within you to reign. The wisdom of God in you rules and reigns through your learning of Christ’s wisdom.
1 Corinthians 2:6-8
However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory. which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
The wisdom of this world and its rulers may abound, but they lose relevance in the face of God’s wisdom. This means you must elevate the wisdom of God above the wisdom of this world. Learning Christ and walking in His wisdom is crucial, regardless of the boasts of worldly wisdom.
David exemplified walking wisely. Though he was the least among servants and warriors, he behaved himself wisely, and others took note. Even Saul, the king, observed it and grew afraid. Walking in wisdom signals to everyone that your emergence is imminent.
1 Samuel 18:7 – So the women sang as they danced, and said: “Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.”
1 Samuel 18:9 – So Saul eyed David from that day forward.
1 Samuel 18:13 – Therefore Saul removed him from his presence, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people.
1 Samuel 18:14 – And David behaved wisely in all his ways, and the LORD was with him.
1 Samuel 18:15 – Therefore, when Saul saw that he behaved very wisely, he was afraid of him.
1 Samuel 18:30 – Then the princes of the Philistines went out to war. And so it was, whenever they went out, that David behaved more wisely than all the servants of Saul, so that his name became highly esteemed.
Walking wisely will give you the upper hand in the affairs of men, establishing your superiority as God ordained. It will secure your going out and coming in with prosperity.
The Hebrew word used for “wisely” concerning David is śakâl, which means to be prudent, circumspect, wise, to have insight, to prosper, and to cause success.
Strong’s Dictionary:
to be (causeatively make or act) circumspect and hence intelligent: – consider, expert, instruct, prosper, (deal) prudent (-ly), (give) skill (-ful), have good success, teach, (have, make to) understand (-ing), wisdom, (be, behave self, consider, make) wise (-ly), guide wittingly.
The same word is used to describe Joshua’s prosperous journey.
Joshua 1:7
Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.
From this, we infer that walking wisely is synonymous with walking prosperously. It is manifesting the wisdom of God despite opposition and obstacles.
In the New Testament, walking wisely means walking with intelligence, sagacity, and thoughtfulness. The Greek word phronimos captures this perfectly, implying thoughtful, i.e. sagacious or discreet (implying a cautious character; denotes practical skill or acumen; indicates rather intelligence or mental acquirement); in a bad sense conceited (also in the comparative):–wise(-r).
It was used to describe the difference in attitude and approach between the wise and foolish virgins in the parable, emphasizing the importance of finishing well.
Matthew 25:1-11
Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight a cry was heard: “Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!” Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, “Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.” But the wise answered, saying, “No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.” And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. Afterward, the other virgins came also, saying, “Lord, Lord, open to us!”
This word was also used to reference the wisdom of building on the foundation of Christ for a formidable and reliable future.
Matthew 7:24-27
Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.
Walking wisely exalts you and your work in the day of common trials. Though it may not seem fashionable, it lays the foundation for a formidable and reliable future in times of trouble.
Servants of God’s Will and Purpose
The day you take up your ministry tools for effective and effectual ministry, that is you walking wisely.
Luke 12:42-44
And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has.
You trigger phronimos as you serve faithfully. If you continue to serve in that wisdom, you shall function as a ruler over all that God has in store for you.
We walk in this wisdom. We walk circumspectly, ruling and winning, redeeming the evil days and times. We reign as though exonerated from the elements and forces of this world.
Ephesians 5:14-17
Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.” See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Walk wisely, for Christ, the wisdom of God, dwells in you. Walking in the light of Christ, frame your thoughts, decisions, and actions with the wisdom of Christ taught as a mystery.
I call you blessed.
